He's the new guy on the block, er, rack. See that face? He's pissed. Because he's shorter than Doraemon.

95% Complete!!!

Picking back from where we left off 2 weeks ago..
Photobucket
Almost there!!

Oh, btw, I accidentally stepped on a small snake just now, my first time; it felt like a really thick rubber band, LOL!

Random musings on a sleepless night

1. Day 3 of part-time job. Wow, apart from my parents, I hadn't worked for anybody else for more than 4 years now, and this is my first part-time job. It's actually pretty cool, being able to concentrate on something new, and getting results that I myself am satisfied with. I don't suck so much at web-design after all. Thanks again for the offer, TK!

2. It's funny, just like in movies, people who you've always thought you know will suddenly seem distant. People who've been out of your life for what seems like a good portion of it, suddenly comes back in, and sometimes you feel like you've never truly been apart at all.

As a totally unrelated side, grab every chance you get. Case in point; Hoon Fei's been interested in this cute girl at Ipoh Padang Kopitiam for sometime now, but he's always been kinda shy to ask her name lar. Just when he's decided he should make a move tonight, the girl wasn't there anymore. Well, sometimes the chance will return. Maybe the girl just wasn't on today's shift, we shall see, in time.

3. My car might really be a piece of crap after all. The steering wheel started vibrating at moderate speeds. Yes. Again. I think something broke. Yes. Again. Yes. I realise it's only been 3 days since I got it back.

4. I yawned throughout the day, and here I am, positively up and alert at 0126, what gives?

5. I've been cussing a lot again lately. At everything and anything. Need to stop.

6. Hardly a day passes now without me pondering death, not mine la, just people in general. Wth? This is so not normal. There's this dreadful feeling I hate whenever I think of it. Anyway, I've stopped downing Sheridans with 2 cubes of ice before going off to bed, Strawberry milk is actually quite good. Not that it helps me sleep better.

7. I used to think Olivia Newton John's Have You Never Been Mellow was blah. Weird, that's exactly the song that makes me slow down and happy nowadays.

8. A teeny bit of patience goes a long way in making things better. Work. Model kits. Relationships. Just don't cook your Cintan mee for too long.

9. No idea if you're reading this, but for the 4th time, Wendy, I'm sorry, it was an extremely not-funny and lousy joke on my part this morning. You know my mouth is very celupar at times. Sorry.

10. I'm extremely lucky. I know I am. I am thankful that I am thankful. I don't believe in god or higher beings, my life is not as great and easy as it appears to some people, but I am thankful I can always look at the bright side of things, and that I don't think the whole world is conspiring against me. Recently, someone told me I'm a man of principles. But is that true? Screw la, if principles also a set of very loose principles lar. I think I just happen to have a preference for all things positive, that's all.

The little things in life that turn out great, makes life great.

Sounds so philosophical hor, diu, if it wasn't for these silent moments of reflection, I'd never know I am actually so effin' wise. And I need to put a lot of effort with #5.

Addition to family fleet!

Photobucket
Say "Hi" to the V230! And see those 406 rims peeking out from under the lunchbox van? I've finally gotten my Xantia back, after spending another week at the workshop, yay, that, like, just made it 25 days in one month, briliant, just effin' brilliant. I'm playing with Photoshop again, so far so good ^^

Mid-Autumn is back again!!!

Just jesting! Bro didn't come back, and Dad wasn't home yet on Sunday night, but now that everybody's around to accompany Sis, we had a second round of lantern lighting!

Photobucket
The ghostly green blur in the background is Mom walking over with her newly-lit lantern ;)

Photobucket
It was hard to get a proper pic in the dark during the previous years, but the street lamps are out tonight, making the darkness even greater, so I got everyone to light candles up all over the place to provide some ambient lighting! Damn, took me long enough to smarten up a wee bit, should have thought of this ages ago!

Photobucket
Even though it's slightly blurred, I like this 2 pics a lot, must be the best family pic's we've taken in a long while :)

Photobucket
Dad having some fun with some fireworks. I've stashed up these up for years and promptly forgotten about them; Dad found em while cleaning a few weeks back! The louder ones still make quite a BANGGGG!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Candles everywhere!!

Photobucket
Mom, working swiftly to light all lanterns up!

Photobucket
Bro got greedy and lit up many fireworks at once!!! He stuck a 冲天炮 into the ground and proceeded to light it up. It was stuck too tight, couldn't lift off, and exploded with a huge bang!!!

Weeee! It was a lot of fun, wish we could do this a lot more often!!

Visit to Taiping

Went to Taiping to attend a funeral and visit some relatives while at it today. We all had a good chee cheong fun breakfast in Gunung Rapat, then set off to Taiping in Dad's 116 280S. Sitting in the rear passenger seat of that car feels just as weird as sitting in the rear passenger seat of my Xantia; I'm too used to driving and having the car all to my own :p

Once we'd reached Taiping, Mom & Dad had some problems finding the way since we all haven't visited the town in years, so much's changed! We eventually found our way though, after a slight detour.

Photobucket
Mom chatting with a very animated Grandaunt. She's 90 years old, couldn't walk much due to joint pains, but she's still going very strong! Mom used to live in this house for a year back when she was studying in Taiping! Dad was also here then, dealing with trucks, it's been about 30 years since! Anyway, Grandaunt kept speaking to me, Dad, Bro & Sis in Hokkien, and while Dad could understand some, he couldn't speak. Grandaunt would speak to us in Cantonese whenever we explained we don't understand Hokkien and many other dialects like Mom, but after a while she'll revert to speaking to us in Hokkien again. Scratched our heads real good this time, LOL!

I didn't take pics, but man, do I love these houses in places like Taiping and Sungai Siput; they're spacious, neat, well-ventilated and brightly lit, there's an automatic sense of comfort in these houses!

We got our drinks in these mugs:

龙马精神!!!

Photobucket
Er... 猪朋狗友? LOL, couldn't think of any nice combination for this 2. Mugs are cute though :)

Photobucket
Cousin aunt's pet dog. Awfully adorable, very obedient too!!

After attending the funeral, we had lunch at a seafood restaurant, and left for Ipoh again. I met up with Yen for lunch at Secret Recipe in Jusco, and bought Mom a wallet from Fossil! While they're nice and all, I think the wallets and watches at Fossil's a bit overpriced, or maybe I've always gotten stuff cheap. Whatever, hope Mom likes my gift, at least for once I didn't spend my money on model kits or diecasts :D

Theng and Ring's Birthday!

Woot, seems like there're quite a lot of birthdays lately. Ring and a couple other friends' birthday was yesterday, the 18th, Theng, Uncle Kim Kooi, and PJ, a friendly girl from college, all turn a year older today, on the 19th! Keng Lam, the quiet boy, is having his turn on Monday!

Photobucket
We sneaked into an unoccupied room in college and enjoyed the cake this afternoon! Not many were around today, only me, Poh, Darren, Eric, Wennice, Amy, and of course Ring & Theng, the birthday girls!

Wennice brought her camera but the batteries were flat, so smart of her, so we all relied on our crappy handphone cameras :p

Photobucket
Here's Darren having his slice of the cake. Directly from the platter. Using the cake knife :D

Yen came soon enough and we all had lunch at Lavender, pretty nice afternoon!

And oh, today, for the first time, there's a car ownership to my name. No, the car's not mine. Just helping out a bit :D I hope I can own a car with my own money soon though. Gotta slack less :)

Be afraid, be very afraid...

This shall teach ya for doing things with your eyes laid with kaya, muahahahahaha!!

A random thought...

You could be clueless, you could be under a lot of pressure, or you could be feeling just plain effed... Sometimes though, life's a lot simpler when you would just blast music into your ears, isolate yourself in a world of your own, void of distractions, concentrate, and suddenly, the answers just come to you. And you then pull the plugs off your ears, feeling good again.

Wendy's Birthday!

Was out at McDonald's on Friday night to celebrate Wendy's birthday! OK la, so it wasn't really a celebration since there was no cake, but hey, we had lotsa fun! I gave Wendy the stiletto heel and handbag necklace I bought for her when I went shopping earlier! There was an insane number of patrons when we arrived at about 2300, all back for Mid-Autumn, no doubt, but we managed to get 2 tables for ourselves nonetheless. We sat for quite awhile before the bus Ying's on arrived at the station and Poh went to fetch her.

Photobucket
Cat that kept cuddling and playing with me and Shen's feet. Shen wouldn't let me nudge it away cuz she wanted to play with it.

Photobucket
Daughter and mom :D

Photobucket
Brother and sister.

Photobucket
Why shouldn't you make silly faces at a camera? Because the photo will eventually be uploaded to the internet and shown to the world, that's why :p

Photobucket
Daughter, mom, aunt.

Photobucket
Driver, daughter, son. Yea, Poh's a driver only, poor him :p

Photobucket
The reason why I'm FAT!!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Showing your back to the camera; new trend ler I think. Maybe they listened to SexyBack too much.

Photobucket
Totally random and unrelated McD plug! Anybody want triple-tower french fries? :D

Happy Mid-Autumn!!

Yen made these :D
Photobucket
The Strawberry Yen & Pizza Soon lanterns! I feel the urge to go all japaneseschoolgirly and shriek "KAWAII NEHHHH!!!!!!" But there were too many kids at the playground. They'll be traumatized by the sight of a big-bellied 20-something guy with super small eyes doing that impersonation. So I shut the hell up and spared them the trauma.

It's already 2215 when we got home after dinner at Hock & Nga Mui's home, so we jumped into action!

KAWAII NEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Halfway thru lighting up the lanterns, it started to drizzle on us!!! We had no choice but to retrieve all lanterns and light em up another night...

Photobucket
Sis is disappointed..

Photobucket
...all's not lost though, there are still another 3 on the clothes hanger which were sheltered from the drizzle :)

The drizzle stopped not long after #%*^$^&#@! We were too lazy to light up lanterns again, so I went and took some night photos instead :p

Photobucket
Very, very, very rare scene; the house balcony is totally void of cars, looks so much more spacious!

Photobucket
I don't know, I just liked this scene a lot, I think, otherwise I couldn't explain this 478697th pic I took of it.

Photobucket
So peaceful. I wish I could just lie here and sleep at night. Without freezing to death at 4am.

Photobucket
Lying on the floor is a great way to appreciate the moonlight glow :) Sis and Yen said I'm weird when I did that. Then they followed suit and wouldn't get up!

Photobucket
View from the floor. Ahhh, so nice! Happy Mid-Autumn everyone, munch on more mooncakes!!!

I bought a set of new earphones!!!

...and so did hundreds of others, at PC fair today. The jam in the parking was ridiculous, I just parked further up across the road and walked over, needed the exercise anyway. The crowd was worse once inside; I think I spent more than 5 minutes inching my way thru a 40 feet distance to get to Fanny. Alas, Fanny's store hasn't got what I need, so I had to buy em from elsewhere. Got a new multimedia headset so Mom & Dad could use Skype, MSN chat. Deal at RM18, at this price, I'm not expecting it to last beyond this year, since I intend to pick up a better set later on anyway :p The accesories offering at most booths nowadays is horrendous. I don't think I've seen so many cheap knockoffs and low-end products before, while all the decent or higher-end stuff are nowhere in sight. Seriously, is there really no demand for some decent stuff nowadays? Walk into any PC store in Ipoh nowadays and chances are they'll only have some really cheap ass, low-quality Made In China or Taiwan mouse and headphones dangling from the rack. I can't stand the look of those, let alone hold em for hours on end, no thank you.

Anyway, ask for decent and you shall receive :D
Photobucket
Nice hor? SonicGear headphones. I bought it because it looked pretty well-built and nice. The travel case looked pretty darn attractive too ^^ The salesgirl was a college junior, I think she threw in a bit more free gifts into my bag than any other customer at that time got :p Tried the earphones once I got home, and the sound's ok. Ok only lo, nothing to shout about, the Creative headphones Jessie picked up from Singapore sounded crispier, and my old (but dead) Altec Lansings definitely sounded way better, and it's got a fuller bass punch! Hehe, I think I'll pick up a new Altec Lansing set from Fanny's place later. Until then, I'll just enjoy the SonicGear earphones. Hey, even if it doesn't sound great, at least it looks sweet!!!

Edit 0927 16092008: Hey, what do you know? I'm a sakai, so I've been wearing the earphones improperly until yesterday afternoon!! Once I've got the earbuds changed to a smaller set and wore the earphones at a proper angle, the sound's really nice. It's clearer, still not as crisp as the Creatives, but I like the subtle bass punch. It's actually pretty decent, I like!

Oral-B knockoff

Saw this while stocking up at Giant this morning:

Oral-Me.... So damn salah.

ARII C3 Corvette, almost complete!

I've been building again! Darren needs a 1/24 car in red to accompany his display, but I haven't got a completed one!

Photobucket
The only red car I have right now is this one, and it's not even near completion! It's been sitting like this since March, though I've since chopped and mashed some suspension parts from an Aoshima FD3S chassis to add more details to the crappy generic Fujimi chassis this red FC3S body is sitting on. What can I say, the rear wheels stick out lots now, ain't hella flush like in this pic anymore, and I've a lot of work ahead of me with this one, so I figured it'd be easier for me to speed build another car.

Then I saw the C3 on my shelf, and I remembered the first Stingray that caught my attention was red. Red! Yes, the C3 Stingray shall look awesome in red! And so I got to work!

Photobucket
Front suspension bits, speed building means skimping on painting some pain-in-the-ass parts. Not that it matters, those parts are gonna spend most of their time facing the ground anyway.

Photobucket
Rear suspension. Heh, it was pretty interesting to say the least; it's hard to see here, but C3s bounce on leaf springs at the rear, how primitive, didn't know that until I built that part. Educational play :)

Photobucket
Not much to see, saving the exhaust pipes for last!

Photobucket
The rear suspension was a bit of a pain to put together, but it was quite rewarding! The complicated and slightly fragile structure allows you to adjust the camber of the rear wheels! I had a lot of fun getting the negative camber to look right without lowering the rear too much!

The model's original stance sucked too; the wheels are all too far into the wheel wells, so I did some work with the wheels and had the wheel arches filled out nicely!
Photobucket
Wheel fitment, the proper way :D

Photobucket
Pearl paint + bling bling = dazzling!

Photobucket
I'm gonna smother it in Candy Red later, until then, its gonna be Pearl White. Hm, gotta love the C3 in this colour, I think the colour works better on it compared to the Karmann Ghia, but I've my mind set on a red C3 now :D

Photobucket
Karmann Ghia. This one's definitely staying in this colour!
