Christmas Eve dinner!

I'd mistaken the date of Lean Lee and Chun Pin's wedding dinner and would have stayed on another day for the dinner, but I had to return to Ipoh because I promised to be back for the gathering :p

The trip back home was awfully slow and took 3 hours, so I'm glad I took the 1330 bus home or I would still be stuck in the middle of nowhere by evening. Bro took me back to the office, I hung around a while and headed straight home, took a bath, then left to do some last minute shopping at Jusco :p

I bought Yen a bag that she said was nice when we saw it while shopping a few days earlier. My bro liked those piggy keychain stuff so I got him a black and white one, for Sis I picked a cute Mickey toy. Yea, the gifts are all cheapo ones, but what the heck, I'm about broke during those few days, and it's the thought that counts, right? Right!

After buying the gifts, I went straight to fetch Yen and off to MP we went. Jason Cheng appeared with his girlfriend shortly after we got out of the car. Wennice and Theng came about 15 minutes later, I forgot when Mok appeared, but he was there early on too :) Not long after we sat down, we spotted Poh and Chew Yee walking around, they're there with some other friends.

Mok nearly had an argument with the manager or someone in similar position at MP because she insisted she has the right to cancel our reservation for the other table as the others arrived late, but she didn't get her way, which was good :p Ivan appeared late and had to sit , alone, at the next table while waiting for the others to arrive, how pitiful :p

Terry and Trisha arrived about half an hour late, as expected, with Reece, a friend of Trisha's, saving Ivan from loneliness at the next table :p Jenn Yi and Yar Leng appeared later too.

Clockwise from top left; Wennice, Me, Yen, Jason, Heng Yee & Leng Lui Theng :) I missed Leng Lui Theng a lot, it's been real long since we talked crap with each other :p

Yen was trying to get a pic of Yar Leng, who was busy talking and failed to pay attention, resulting in the following pics:

Ken Toong was there at MP too; he sent me an SMS but he left before I could find him, then I spotted Meng Khuen's girlfriend and not long after he came and patted my back :p Even Jeet was there; spotted him outside with some friends when I went out to answer a call, we seriously need more places to go for dinner in Ipoh :p

Jeet, Me, Ivan, Trisha, Yen & Reece, nice guy :)

See what are those two doing behind my back :(

Terry and Jenn Yi left after dinner as they wanted to go clubbing, so the rest of us walked from MP to Oldtown Kopitiam Greentown, which was surprisingly NOT packed, and had drinks until 0030 Christmas, when everyone left for home. Only a few of us could make it for the gathering that night, but it was fun nonetheless. And Wendy Wong, if you're reading this, you fong fei kei again!!!! I'm s0 gonna strangle you next time I see you!!!! :p

Happy New Year everybody!!

Chun Pin & Lean Lee's wedding

Oh hi! Been kinda busy for the past week and just remembered I have a blog to update, so updates it is now :p

Yew came over to my house before heading back to KL last Saturday (22nd December). I didn't know he was gonna come back to Ipoh that Friday or return to KL so soon, so I bought a bus ticket to KL for 1130 on the 23rd as I'm supposed to attend Chun Pin and Lean Lee's wedding on Sunday evening. I made Yew wait for me while I took a super cincai bath, packed my stuff, and promptly jumped into his car for the trip to KL :p Bus ticket wasted, RM13.40 gone, that's 9 glasses of kopi ais :(

It was already 2010 when we reached Subang and I spent 5 hours chatting on MSN and playing miscellaneous cacat games at Autosurf while Yew, my bro, Joe Yan and another friend wasted their brain cells playing Perfect World and DotA.

It was nearly 0200 before we left Autosurf and went for drinks at a nearby mamak stall, food was good, the Milo was large and khau enough, but we couldn't even comprehend what the Indian waiter was trying to say most of the time, weirdo.

Me and Yew bunked in Simon's room at the house where Bro, Joe Yan and Bao Siew previously lived too. The house was filthy, luckily Simon's room was well-kept :)

Sunday afternoon went by pretty slow; we woke up at 1100 then set out for breakfast / lunch at BurgerKing at about 1200, dang, I missed BK burgers, been real long since I've had any. Bro & Joe Yan left for Ipoh from Pudu while his other friend headed back for Penang at about 1430.

With nothing to do, me and Yew wasted sometime strolling around Sunway Pyramid, with nothing much to see, except for 7 feet tall PowerPuff Girls, Mojo Jojo, Dexter & his sis dancing and singing on stage :) Yea, it was so interesting, we left soon afterwards, and moved our stuff from Simon's room to Bro's room at his new rented room in another house just on the next street; it's so much cleaner at this newly rented home, and Bro, Joe Yan & Bao Siew have all got separate rooms now, instead of sharing one uber-huge master room like they did previously.

My bro previously told me that there are about 8-9 residents in the house, but he has yet to see every other single resident of the house, apart from his friends (obviously, they, like, go out together, duh), and I think I he's right; I've been there for about 2 days, hiding in the room most of the time, but every now and then when I walk out, I can see that the front sliding door's either opened or closed, shoes & slippers have been shuffled, bowls appeared unwashed on the kitchen sink, then washed, the rear door unlocked with keys left there, then locked again, the front porch lights turned on at night and off in the morning, and so on. Me and Yew have seen nobody else in that house but the signs of life are there, creepy, no wonder Bro has a baseball bat in his room nowadays :p

Bro's room at this house is pretty small, but I guess it's enough for him alone, even me and Yew could operate comfortably in the room; him being stuck in front of his laptop playing Perfect World all day *shakes head*, and me sitting on the bed reading magazines from 2006 I found on the living room table, Initial D comic, and newspapers.

Yew dropped me opposite Pyramid on his way out to meet Boy, and Sis Teng picked me up. I had got my dates all mixed up and the wedding dinner wasn't on Sunday, but Monday instead, so I'll just be attending the beehun party at Chun Pin and then Lean Lee's homes instead. Teng just got off work so I followed her home while she had a change of clothes before we headed out for light dinner at Oldtown Kopitiam, dang, feels almost like Ipoh :) We then met up with Wan Hong and Yee Mui at Pudu, and after a few freeway exit misses, made it to Kepong and waited at a petrol station while Chun Pin came out to lead the way. Billy said he'd lead the way to Chun Pin's house with Kah Mun earlier, but both didn't turn up :p Me & Teng at first thought the "P" sticker on Hong's Myvi was Yee Mui's, but after all the highway driving and confimation from the man himself, it turns out to be Hong's :p

Hong, Yee Mui, Teng & me had some food at Chun Pin's home, sat around, chatted a bit and promptly left, after telling him we're going over to his wife's place :) I last saw this guy during CNY last year and he's gained quite some weight :p Next, we went to PJ and waited for Hoe to bath, after leaving work 30 minutes early. I just realised then that this was where I went for dim sum breakfast before MotoGP earlier!

After picking Hoe up, the five of us headed for Lean Lee's home, Me & Hoe in Hong's car and Yee Mui in Teng's car. Hong kept getting lost and couldn't follow Teng, who kept changing lanes erratically without using the signal *shakes head again*. After taking the (insert number you like)th time taking the wrong turn, we finally reached the approximate area of Lean Lee's home. Hong went his own way after that as he has to meet some friends elsewhere, so me & Hoe switched to Teng's Kelisa. We sat around, looked at the wedding pics, chatted a bit and talked about old times. Chun Pin and Lean Lee got together when the whole bunch of us got to know each other in NS more than 3 years ago, and the two are finally tying the knot now, so it's a really happy occasion for all of us :)

I couldn't attend the wedding dinner on Monday evening as I've left for Ipoh at 1330 in the afternoon, so I didn't get to meet Kun, Hak Kai, Billy and Mang Lam, maybe next time :)

Christmas Tree!!

Sis suggested we put up a Christmas tree at home, last night, as we're not doing it at the office this year, so I drove us to the shop where Dad stuffs his stuff and searched for the boxes containing the tree and decor. We had to go back once as we missed the box containing the decors, and another once because I left the wire I wanted for a 1/24 scale roll cage there. Old already, so forgetful :p

Anyway, we searched high and low for the lights but couldn't find it, turns out those are still stashed under the office staircase. Got those home today and completed the tree!

Yea, it's simple, it's small, it's old, and it really isn't as impressive as those completely white 12 foot giants you see at the malls (which I happen to like a lot, too), but still, 20 feet of colourful bulbs around heaps upon heaps of green plastic really does add some cheer to the living room :) And by the way, yea, those presents at the base of the tree are REALLY filled with gifts, most of em promotional gifts from a certain petrol station and credit card company, so I can unwrap any one I fancy to uncover a diecast F1 car or a cute bear-shaped radio anytime, cool eh? Jealous? Don't be, muahahah ;)

3rd year together!

Today, 19th December 2007; marks me & Yen's 2nd anniversary and the start of our 3rd year together :)

Yen gave me a card on Monday, when we went out to watch Will Smith's I Am Legend :)

Cute eh? That's just Yen's style, cutting photos for cards. It's very simple, but it means a lot to me :) Thanks again dear, love you lots!!

Yen & Mui Mui in the papers!

I got an SMS from Yi Keat this morning. It read: "Ur gal's on star o.0". So it's today! And I thought I'd missed it last week!

I grabbed a copy of The Star right after breakfast, flipped to Metro and there it is! The pic:

Whoever wrote the caption got Yen's age wrong, 19!!! Haha, she must be feeling darn happy now, to think that her age is now 2 years younger :p

And the Chihuahua's name is actually spelt VANICE, not WENNICE, lol. I was aware that it's highly possible the spelling is different, but was never curious enough to ask, well, now I know. By the way, Ginger is Vanice's "mom" :)

I got a few calls asking me if I saw the article, but Yi Keat's fastest with the info, as usual, thanks for the heads up, buddy, if you're still reading my blog :p

S30 Photoshop drawing

Been having a lot of time to goof off at the office since I completed my flash animation assignments, so I fired up Photoshop and messed around again.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I found this picture of a heavily modded Fairlady Z in a forum member's signature months ago and have fallen in love with it since. While it looks pretty normal, the cosmetic mods done to it are quite substantial, actually, see the pic below of an original Z with minimal mods, and you'll get an idea what has been done to it:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
You'll notice that the black modded Z has had it's fenders cut and raised by inches, to the point that the front abosorbers won't really get much travel, I doubt it'll even be barely streetable with this ride height, crazy and impractical, and the vibrations are bound to rock your butt off, but I love it :) The ride height, not the vibration, k :p The side indicators have also been shaved off, giving it a really clean look, but again, less practicality. Apart from the fenders, what I like most is the lowered roofline, it gives the car a really low-slung and sleek profile; I think you have to be pretty short to be able to sit in the car comfortably :p

Anyway, I liked the car in the pic a lot but have failed to find any more info or pics about it on the net, so I set out to make my own rendering of it.

The result:

Looks pretty much like a modern concept car. It's still not completed; there are still some final touches to add to it, but I'm liking what I see :)

Did it all within 2 days too! Way better than the stillborn Mazdaspeed RX-8 that I started work on before Christmas last year :p

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Hope I'll get around to revive and complete it one day :)

Edit: It's complete!

This arrived today! A Fujimi 1:24 Devil Z! Delivery was pretty fast at 8 days thru SAL. Don't let the crap box cover illustration put you off, the kit actually looks very good and faithful to the real car. I've been eyeing this kit for months now but have been put off by the stupid illustration cover, glad I ordered it anyway :p

I had an appointment at school today so I left office early, and got home early too, meaningI have time to put a little bit work into this kit :)

I didn't do much to the kits safe for putting on the body pieces to see if everything fits well.

Nissan S30 Fairlady Z! Looking good, mold and finish quality is a bit on the rough side, but other than that fitment is acceptable. Loved this car since I first saw it in Shutokou Battle 01 in 2003 :)

The D1 spec FD3S RX-7 from Aoshima, this kit has good fitment, it's really nice!

FC3S RX-7 Turbo II, nothing special about this car, but I just love the shape a lot :) I'm contemplating fitting it with the Devil Z's RS Watanabe rims and painting it white to create a replica of Ryosuke Takahashi's White Comet, but I already have one in 1:32 scale, so I think I'll pass.

Everything's fitting well for now, I've read stuff about how Aoshima and especially Fujimi kits have poor fitment, but all the kits I've got are ok for now, I got lucky :) I'm hoping for a nice sunny evening soon so I can start spraying the parts. I've yet to complete the Tamiya Honda Today or start on Yen's Alpine A110 1600SC too :p

Dog Show at Yuk Choy

There is a dog show this week, instead of the usual dog training sessions I go to. I woke up late this morning, bathed, grabbed my camera, handphones, wallet, and rushed out without breakfast. Then I drove like the usual maniac I am and arrived at the training spot. Only to see that there isn't any cars there, let alone the crowd. DANG!!!! I called Yen up, Wennice answered, and reminded me that the show was at Yuk Choy primary school, I actually forgot that :p

So, after another maniacal 5 minute drive, and another 5 minute hunt for a parking spot, I finally stepped into Yuk Choy. While searching for the gang, I came upon these two Huskies and couldn't resist a shot:

I was chatting with Ivan, enjoying the show, when something furry brushed against me leg, and when I looked down, lo and behold...

WENNICE!!!

Yo, squinty eyes are sexy ya?

Walao eh~! As if he isn't cute enough as he is, Wennice's "parents" decided that he should come in a bumblebee costume :) I suggested wire strips so that the wings can stand a bit next time.

Yen promptly snatched him away for pics :p

The normally obedient Austen was very hyped up too; his owner was having a field day keeping him in check :)

I'm seeing lotsa wool here :)

A lot of visitors came to play with Mui Mui as she's the only Maltese around, and there were impressed with her earlier performance too, it's a pity I missed it though as I was still parking my car :p

"Come, come, pet me!!"

Confrontation!! The Chihuahua in yellow is pretty aggresive; I saw it trying to scare off a few other pups. Pretty spunky for it's size eh?

Mui Mui is adorable, everybody likes her :)

Ivan, Gordon, Mui Mui, Wennice and Yen :) And nope, Wennice wasn't spared of the jokes that she shares her name with a Chihuahua today either :p

Rosa! She's a very beautiful Silky belonging to one of the trainers, and is really obedient! There was once her trainer made her sit and wait in front of me and Wennice (the human one), we tried biscuits and a variety of ways to make her move, but she wouldn't budge!!

Kids playing with Rosa, didn't notice when she was put on a leash again. Earlier on she was allowed to run around the basketball court all on her own!

I'm not sure what breed this dog is, but I think it's some variation of the Sheperd breed, I did hear from an instructor that he's from a Russian breed though. Looks awesomely majestic!

On our way out, we passed another cute pup in a Kimono, and it was unlucky enough to be caught by Yen for pics too!

Husky!!! So handsome!!

I couldn't find Mok, so we left without saying goodbye to him, I think he's running around snapping pics with his photographer friend again :)
