Weekend at Johor Baru

YAYYYYYYY!!!!! Finally completed all my web design assignments, and some freelance work too! Time to kick back a bit!

Everybody in the house went to visit Grandma at Johor Baru last Saturday; she has some breathing difficulties but other than that she's quite fine. Got to meet lotsa relatives too, as most of Mom's siblings are making a living in Singapore, so the trip was kinda fun :) I brought my camera along but ended up not taking any pics as I was quite tired, having drove a lot.

A very tired Dad and Sis. Mom was busy catching up with her sis :)

We left JB at about 1000 in the morning, after having breakfast, as we had some business to attend to at LCCT. On the way home, something pretty scary happened. I pushed the Transit's engine too hard all the way and didn't pay attention to the fuel level; the needle was dangerously low in the red zone when I finally noticed it, had to go slow for about 10kms or so until a refuel was possible :p

Effin' bad day

Title says it all, my day at the office sucked so much that by the time I'm off work, I'm ready to blow and bite anyone's head. Some idiota decided he should park his car VIP style smack dab beside the narrow basement carpark exit and hindered my exit. Had to do a multiple reverse and steer maneuvre to get my ass out. That was it. Don't know what happened, it's not the first time this happened; I used to have it worse, some idiots literally parking IN the exit or entrance, but I was so pissed off this evening I actually got out of my car in the rain and kicked the hell outta the stupid Wira's front, smashing the foglamps and grille. I'm now suffering the brunt of my own violence; bruise on my big toe and pain in my calf. Whatever, couldn't care less.

Traffic on the way home was exceptionally bad because of the rain today. Slight rain and the buggers on the road were doing 40, on the right lane. Diu nia sing. I was so carried away overtaking that I didn't pay attention to pedestrians by the road and accidentally treated them to a 5 feet high splash from a deep puddle. Felt really bad. I usually curse people who do that, but here I am, doing it myself. I SHALL NOT let my temper get the better of me anymore. I WILL NOT do things that will cause myself regret while in a fit of anger anymore.

Kah Mun's Wedding, the banquet

On 17th November 2007, Neoh Kah Mun's finally wedded to Ken Yap, family history was made! Evening at Sun Lee How Fook was where it's at!

The reception, Uncle Yee printed the banner! Couldn't be an easier job for him, having his own print shop and all. As there is another wedding dinner being held downstairs, we had to ask and usher guests upstairs, lest they make it to the wrong reception :)

Kah Mun & Ken making their way to the main table. The reception was very smooth as most of the guests arrived on time and we could start the course at 2000, quite good indeed :)

In-laws, the extended family just got larger, how cool is that? More people to chat and drink with during dinners and gatherings :)

Food and service at SLHF is good, way better than what I got at Overseas, Friday night when attending another wedding dinner. The seating's a little cramped and it's hard to get around, but everybody enjoyed the food and no complaints about bland or not-quite-fresh food was heard throughout the night :) I was the photographer for the night so I had to do marvellous acrobatic stunts slipping between chairs a lot, quite good exercise for me! I think my belly might have flattened by 1mm :p

Kah Mun & Ken pouring the champagne, I got hit by a stray cork when Ken unbottled his second bottle of sparks, but at least I got good pics, whahaha, so pro, me!!!! :p

Mom & Uncle Yee on their second song rendition of the night! Most of Uncle Yee's friends are avid karaoke singers, and so are the other guests too, so there wasn't even one horrible karaoke performance during the whole night, everyone's a good singer!!

Yea, it's camwhoring time after the guests have left, for those of you who hadn't realised it :) There's just so much love in this family; it's not always you can see the younger ones and elders mix so well, like they're all friends, yet it's all here, all the time, say BAH to generation gaps!!

One of the last pics I took for the night before giving my camera some rest. It's been a long, fulfilling and happy night! Everything went smoothly and everybody went home with smiles on their face. Beautiful night.

Kah Mun's Wedding, the set-out

sI said earlier that there are wedding's lined up for nearly every other day of the week this month, and today's the wedding of my dear cousin Kah Mun!

Introducing...

My dashing cousin brother-in-law Ken! He's a nice, tall and shy guy! Sorry he had to make his first appearance here in pampers hehe, but it's either he do that or he'll not get to enter the house :p

Sis's Primary School Graduation!

Yesterday, Friday (16/11/2007) was Sis's graduation from primary school.

I was there since 0930 in the morning, sitting thru about 10 years of seemingly endless speeches by random guest of honours, trying to keep myself awake, resisting the urge to fling a cow up the stage and cause amok, just so that I can see Sis perform with the other ballet students. It's surprising, now that I think of it; after years of sending her to and fetching her back from ballet classes, I've never actually seen Sis perform.

After the 1 hour speech that seemed like 10 years, I called Mom & Dad who were still busy at work to come, Dad walked over alone as Mom's still busy at the office. 5 years and what must have been 300 gift presentations later, me and Dad are still waiting for the performance to begin. The gift and souveneir presentation took so long that I actually had time to drive back to the office, get Mom, and hunt for another parking spot after reaching school again. We stood outside the hall for another 5 years or so before the presentations ended and the performances began.

I caught a video of Sis's performance but it's 200mb+, I'm sure uploading that will take an eternity or two, so I'll be skipping that :p I had to hold the camera with my hands only for about 5 minutes, and the video ended up very steady. I'm very sure I've been cured of Alzheimer's now :p

Daryl's birthday

This is one helluva busy month, must be a good month too; weddings and birthdays filling almost every other day of the month :p It's bad enough already I'm fat, now my belly's expanding more with so many parties and dinners happening, this is so uncool. People are gonna add "fatty" in front of my name very soon, very very not cool.

Aunt May Fung, Uncle William, Daryl & Krystal are back for vacation from Hong Kong this week, and today's Daryl's birthday too, so we threw him a surprise party, another BBQ :p

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Yen and Kah Wai at the grille, we had lotsa lamb chops and chicken wings today :) There were sambal fishes and mushrooms too, but I didn't touch those.

Kok Wai arrived late with his girlfriend, probably came from his future brother-in-law's home; more on this in 2 more days :) Lotsa happy stuff lined up till end of the year :)

Btw, I watched The Bee Movie today, it was ridiculously lame but also entertaining at the same time, I've got mixed feelings about it. And a friend who I lashed out at months earlier is speaking to me again; I wasn't in the wrong in the events leading to the fallout, but I did felt that I should have handled the situation better and not lash out at him instead. The fact that we've both said our sorries and agreed it's over takes a whole load off me. Happy stuff indeed :)

Dad's birthday

Sunday, 11th November was Dad's birthday, but he had a wedding banquet to attend at night so we didn't get to celebrate his big day for him. I did make him a card though, as usual :p I haven't used my C65 in months, and when I wanted to print the card after returning home from Nicky's party on Saturday night, it turned out that all freakin 4 ink nozzles are stuck!!! I kinda expected this, really, so I just woke up early on Sunday morning and went to the office for the print instead. There's a very good reason why I sayang the CX4700 so-so-very much; it's frugal, it's hassle-free and it delivers; Hi-quality water-proof prints with vibrant colors at a touch, baby!!

Dad, Sis & Bro were all still asleep when I got home, so I tucked in to sandwiches Mom made for breakfast, yummy!

Went to Aunt Lee's and bought a blueberry cake at about 1150 this morning, then I parked my car behind the office and sneaked the cake in thru the normally locked-from-the-inside back door, which I've thoughtfully unlocked before going out (sneaky me yea? wahahaha).

We cut the cake at about 1540, as soon as me & Bro got back from some errands. I asked everybody I saw around the office to come for the cake, but Uncle & Aunt Leong disappeared with Sze Yuin.

The birthday boy, very old birthday boy :p

Uncle Choo Seng helped us take a family pic, but it wasn't good; his hands shook too much. After numerous tries, Nur took over the camera, and got it right after a few tries, unfortunately, I closed my eyes just at that moment, making me look very silly :(

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
See what I mean? Sohai-ness :(

Halfway thru the blueberry cake, Uncle & Aunt Leong and Sze Yuin reappeared with another cake, a mango cake! Turns out they went to buy another cake from Aunty Lee's!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So there it is, no dinner no party no nothing this year, but at least there's a card and 2 cakes! Pretty tame & silent by Dad's usual birthday celebration standards, but this ain't all that bad :)

And oh yeah, I've finally met with Goh the TougeKing, Boy the TougeKid, Han, & Pui Yee tonight! Went for drinks at McDonald's earlier. They are really a friendly bunch, totally obsessed petrolheads too! So guys, if you're all reading this, it's cool meeting you all!

Puppies

Was at the weekly dog-training session again on Sunday morning, I arrived to see Yen leading Mui Mui on walks around pre-determined points on the pavement. Ivan was leading Gordon on the routine too. Mok is busy snapping pics and chatting with his photographer friend. Wennice was there too! First time I ever see her coming to training sessions, and she started the conversation by telling me there's a Chihuahua around there that shares her name, and how Yen kept teasing her by repeatedly calling her name when the Chihuahua was nearby :p

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Mok took this pic; Mui Mui can clear the poles effortlessly and gracefully now! She can even chase me running up and down the stairs now, and she's only 5 months old! I'm so proud!! Took me quite a few weeks to get her to descend the stairs!

This week's showstopper must be this little Chihuahua!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

QQ's her name, two months old, step sister of aforementioned Chihuahua by the name of Wennice! They were born of the same mother but have different fathers. Funny thing is, even though they have different owners, as soon as both are let loose, they instinctively go up to each other, touch snouts, sniff, and the much larger Wennice let the teeny QQ brush around her legs!! How lovely!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
After the training session, me, Yen, Ivan, Wennice & Mok went for lunch at the stadium food court. We left Gordon and Mui Mui inside Ivan's car. Patrons had fun watching the two pop their heads out of the window, and quite a few bypassers stopped or did a double-take to play with them. Kids were particularly amused at the sight!! The glass panel on Ivan's car was all wet with Gordon's saliva by the time we left, heheh!
